About the authors
The Qalam Teaching Team
Our guides are written by Qalam's editorial team and checked against how our verified Quran and Arabic tutors actually teach — so what you read matches what happens in a real lesson.
Why trust these guides
Anyone can write about learning the Quran. What makes Qalam's guides different is that they're grounded in a platform where every tutor is qualified and manually reviewed before joining, and where the chain of transmission is verified for Quran teaching. We write from what our vetted tutors do with real UK families, not from a template.
We hold ourselves to the same honesty on the page: no fabricated reviews, no invented ratings, no promises of fluency in weeks. Where something takes time or depends on the child, we say so.
How we vet the tutors behind the words
Verified, not just listed
Every tutor is manually reviewed
Tutors don't sign up and start teaching. Each one is qualified and manually reviewed before joining Qalam. We check qualifications and teaching background, not just a self-written profile.
Chain of transmission (isnad) verified
For Quran tutors we verify the chain of transmission where it applies — the link back through named teachers that authenticates how they learned to recite. It is the difference between a teacher and a verified one.
Gender-matched by default
Brothers learn from brothers, sisters learn from sisters, and parents book for their children. The platform is built around gender-appropriate interaction, and matching respects it at every step.
You judge the fit yourself
Your first 30-minute lesson is free, so the vetting doesn't ask for blind trust. Reviews on the site come only from students after a paid session — we do not write or invent them.
Learn with a verified tutor
The tutors behind these guides teach 1-to-1 online from £5 per 30-minute lesson. Your first 30 minutes are free, so you can judge the fit before paying anything. Read more about our approach on the about page.
