We manually review each tutor before they join the platform, including their background, teaching experience, and any Ijazah or chain of transmission (isnad) they hold. 17 of our current tutors carry a verified isnad, and this is marked clearly on their profile. Can I choose a male or female tutor?
Yes. Gender-matched tutors are standard on Qalam — a female tutor for daughters or female students, a male tutor for sons or male students. You choose this when browsing tutors or booking your free trial, the same as you would want to arrange for study at an institute abroad.
What does 'Egyptian-trained' actually mean on Qalam — is there a country filter?
It means the tutor's own profile text — their bio, languages, or certifications — references Egyptian or Al-Azhar-linked study. There is no separate nationality or country field in our tutor system, so this isn't a searchable filter, just information the tutor has shared about their own training.
